About Jigsaw...
Jigsaw has been creating exciting and original musical theatre plays with young people for 18 years. Jigsaw members have the unique experience of devising and creating material, playing instruments live on stage, as well as acting. Along with some of the older members develop directing and workshop leader skills.
After a busy 12 months of Chester Mystery Plays and A Thousands and One Nights, Jigsaw will be taking a break until September.
The company was created by Veronica Bennetts in 1991 and directed by many professional artists, dance workers, designers and musicians.
Jigsaw’s impressive collection of original or adapted pieces of musical theatre include The invisible Girl, Call for Merlin, The Twelve Days of Christmas (with the Theatre in The Quarter), Charlie Prince; Rock Idol of the Town, Big Nose, Going
Underground, The Brutal Truth, The Princess who Couldn’t Sing, The Roses of Eyam, The man in the Balloon, The Happy Prince, Polychronicon (with the Gateway Theatre),
Unsinkable (story of the Titanic), The Village Cross, The Last Village, The Girl With No Name, Lord of the Flies, Ghost Within The Walls and the
Millennium Bugs.
Many of our past Jigsaw members have continues to perform, for examples, as members of Theatre in the Quarter, or have gone onto study at a
variety of Drama schools. Others have simply benefitted from the wealth of skills that they have developed, the self confidence that has grown, and the lasting friendships that have been formed, by being a member of this special theatre group.
